For the Spring 2018 STEP cycle, twenty-three (23) awards totaling $477,403.89 were funded by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Student Technology Enhancement Program (STEP). Of the those proposals funded, seven (7) will have an annual sustainability fund impact of $37,748.53 (average $6,291.42/project). All seven (7) of the "sustainable" projects were SMART Classrooms/TEC rooms [a total of nine instructional classrooms]. SMART Classrooms and TEC rooms continue to be very popular with our students and are aligned with the new University Strategic Plan.
The highest rated (by the STEP Council in rank order H-L) proposals for the cycle included: Smart Multimedia Classroom in Madison Hall; VL Wharton Hall Room 218 Computer Lab A/V Technology; Equipment Replacement: Graphic Design Studio; Billeaud 117 SMART Classroom Request; FGM 215 Interactive Classroom Enhancement; and Two SMART Classrooms For the Dept. of English. Funded grant scores ranged from (H-L) 7.00 to 5.63 with an average score of 6.16. Other interesting awards included: Equipment for the Video Game Design and Development (VGDD) Lab; Implementation of Virfac® (Virtual Factory) Software Package; UL and KRVS Television Production; Upgrading an Autoclave for Student Research in Biology; and Computer and Printer Kiosks in The Student Union.
